Niranjan V. Rao M.D. FACS

Dr. Rao trained in General Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa, and did Vascular Surgery fellowship at the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic. He is section chief in Vascular Surgery at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick NJ. He is an active staff surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Raritan Bay Medical Center and University Medical Center of Princeton.

A clinical assistant Professor of Surgery at both Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Drexel University College of Medicine, he is actively involved in teaching and training medical students, surgical residents and vascular fellows.

With over twenty years of experience, Dr. Rao performs surgical procedures on Gallbladder, Hernia, Small and Large intestines. He has specialized in vascular bypass procedures in the neck (Carotid), upper and lower limbs, and abdomen for arterial blockages and Aneurysms. He is one of the pioneers in Advanced Endovascular treatment, which includes balloon angioplasty, stents and Stent Graft for aneurysms. Dr. Rao also specializes in treating Venous disorders, such as varicose veins, including ‘Closure’ and traditional surgery. Cosmetic Venous surgery includes removing unsightly veins through micro incisions and injection Sclerotherapy.

Dr. Rao is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, International Endovascular Society, Peripheral International College of Surgeons and a member of the American College of Phlebology and Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society.
